JIS B2220 is the Japanese steel pipe flange standard, sized in millimetres from 10A to 600A and rated 5K, 10K, 16K, 20K and 30K. It is specified in Japanese-designed plants, shipbuilding, marine equipment and much of South-East Asian industry.
JIS flanges use metric bolt patterns and their own outside diameters and thicknesses. A JIS 10K flange is often described as roughly equivalent to ASME Class 150, but the bolt circle and outside diameter differ — a JIS flange must be ordered as JIS and matched with JIS bolts and gaskets. The 30K series runs from 10A to 400A, and 16K/20K do not include 175A or 225A.

JIS K ratings are kgf/cm² nominal: 5K ≈ 0.5 MPa, 10K ≈ 1.0 MPa, 16K ≈ 1.6 MPa, 20K ≈ 2.0 MPa and 30K ≈ 3.0 MPa. The published maximum working pressure is higher or lower than the nominal figure depending on material group and division — for material group 1.1, Division I, the JIS B2220 Table 11 value at up to 120 °C is 0.7 MPa for 5K, 1.4 MPa for 10K, 2.7 MPa for 16K, 3.4 MPa for 20K, 5.1 MPa for 30K, 6.8 MPa for 40K and 10.7 MPa for 63K. Allowable pressure falls with temperature, and JIS bolt patterns differ from ASME classes of similar pressure.
